Daniel Silverman began creating films at a young age through apuppet-based web series he created coined as Tyler’s Adventures. Producing episodes on his own sparked an early fascination with storytelling. This laid the foundation for his interest in directing, writing, cinematography and editing.

 

After joining the Film BFA program at SUNY Purchase, his passion for filmmaking grew more through collaborative productions and independent narrative work. Over the course of film school, he developed a range of projects across different genres, with films such as Better the Devil You Know and Chronically Online representing major milestones in his growth as a filmmaker. Written, directed, and edited all by Daniel, his work often focuses on building atmosphere, psychological tension, and unique visual direction.

On set, he gravitates towards the visual side of production, including lighting, camera operation, set design, and assistant camera work. While his style is ever-developing, some reoccurring themes include meticulous attention to detail when it comes to easter eggs, strong practical and natural lighting and experimental post processing methods including VHS conversion.

In post-production, he works across nearly every stage of the process, including editing, color grading, sound design, visual effects, and original music composition. This workflow allows him to maintain a consistent creative voice throughout each project.
